Small Mercies Daycare

Small Mercies Daycare is a Family Day Home Center for children of various ages.  It is located on the first floor of the Mercy House Shelter.  Small Mercies Daycare first opened approximately eight years ago in 2006. During this time, the daycare was open between the hours of 9am-5pm.  However, due to a demand for extended daycare hours, in 2008, Mercy House changed the hours of operation.  This meant opening earlier and closing later as well as weekend availability.  As a result, Small Mercies Daycare is able to meet the needs of more parents and children in need!

The Family Day Home Center has a maximum of five children on any given day.  Small Mercies Daycare has two primary daycare providers providing emotional, physical, and nutritional support to the children.

The daycare also relies on volunteers as they are a viable component of Small Mercies Daycare, and the Mercy House in general.  Volunteers are encouraged to plan activities and games for the children.  This may include coloring, arts and crafts, puzzles, or taking the children to the playground at the Mercy House Shelter.

Small Mercies Daycare desires to provide quality care to enrolled families.  Daycare providers must complete Criminal and Child Protective Services Background Checks as well as other requirements throughout employment at Small Mercies Daycare.

Although Mercy House aims to provide assistance, and support to community members, Small Mercies Daycare is only available to clients or residents of the Mercy House.  If you are in need of daycare for your child(ren) please check the Virginia Department of Social Services website http://www.dss.virginia.gov.
